How we run a move

Most complaints about movers are not about the truck. They are about a quote that changed on the day, a crew that turned up without the right material, or nobody answering the phone. This is how we organise around those three things.

Who we are

A Kanpur firm, run from Kanpur

Akash Movers is a proprietorship based at 113/186, Swaroop Nagar, Kanpur 208002, trading since 1983. The business is run by its proprietor, Vikas Grover — which in practice means the person responsible for your move is reachable, not a call-centre layer in front of a subcontractor.

You may know us as Akash Packers & Movers — that is the same business, same proprietor, same office. The trading name is now Akash Movers; nothing else about it changed.

We handle household and office shifting within Kanpur, intercity relocation out of it, packing and unpacking, loading and unloading, car and two-wheeler transport, and storage between dates. The work is the same whether it is two rooms across Kakadeo or a full house to Bengaluru; what changes is the vehicle, the crew and the schedule.

You are welcome to come to the office and talk a move through before committing to anything. For most people that is a more useful twenty minutes than any amount of reading a website.

The basics, plainly

  • Based in Swaroop Nagar, Kanpur — Uttar Pradesh
  • Trading since 1983
  • Structure sole proprietorship
  • Proprietor Vikas Grover
  • Formerly Akash Packers & Movers
  • Covers all of Kanpur, plus intercity routes across India
  • Quotes issued in writing, itemised, after a survey

No rating or award is claimed here. Reviews live on the platforms that collected them, where you can read them in full rather than taking our word for a number.

What we do differently

The quote is the quote

We price off a real inventory, not a guess over the phone. The survey — in person or over a video call — produces a list of what is actually moving, and that list is what you are quoted against.

If the scope genuinely changes on the day, because there is more than was listed or the access is not what was described, we tell you what it changes and you approve it before we carry on. What we do not do is load the vehicle and present a different number at the other end.

Our own crews, not day labour

The same teams move your goods and are briefed on your inventory before they arrive. A crew that has seen the list does not improvise.

Material loaded the night before

Cartons, wrap and tools are counted against your inventory before the vehicle leaves the yard, so nobody runs short halfway through your kitchen.

One coordinator, start to finish

You are not re-explaining your move to whoever picks up. One person owns it from the survey to the last carton.

Checked at both ends

The same inventory list is signed at pickup and at delivery. Anything missing is obvious immediately, not three days later.

Straight answers

Things we would rather you knew up front

A moving company that only tells you the good parts is a moving company you will be arguing with later.

A cheap quote usually means a thin one

If one quote is dramatically lower than the others, look at what is missing from it: packing material, furniture dismantling, labour for a fourth floor without a lift, or transit cover. Ask for the same itemised list from everyone and the gap usually explains itself.

Dates near month-end cost more

Almost everyone moves on the 28th to the 2nd, and vehicles and crews are scarce in that window. If your date can flex by a few days into the middle of the month, you will usually pay less and get a better crew.

We will tell you when not to book us

If you are moving two rooms across town and are happy to pack yourself, you may only need labour and a vehicle, not a full service. We would rather scope that honestly than sell you a package you do not need.

Nothing is guaranteed that depends on traffic

We commit to a delivery window and we keep you updated against it. We do not promise an exact arrival hour several hundred kilometres away, because nobody can honour that.

The owner

You are dealing with the proprietor

Akash Movers is owned and run by Vikas Grover. Not a brand licensed to a local operator, not a booking platform that sells your move on to whoever bids lowest — a proprietorship, with one office in Kanpur, where the owner's name is on the registration.

The practical difference shows up on the bad days rather than the good ones. When a lift breaks down, a society refuses a gate pass at nine in the morning, or something arrives damaged, there is a person who can actually decide what happens next — and who carries the cost of deciding it badly. That is harder to arrange when the company taking your booking is not the company doing your move.

It is also why the survey matters so much here. The person quoting your move is accountable for it, so there is no incentive to quote low and argue later.

Vikas Grover

Proprietor

Reachable on the same number that answers the enquiry line. If a move is going wrong, you should not have to find out who to escalate to — that is the whole point of a business this size.

  • Owns and runs the business directly
  • One office, on Swaroop Nagar, Kanpur
  • No franchise, no aggregator, no sub-brand
Our legacy

What we would rather be known for

A moving company's reputation is not built by the moves that go well. It is built by what it does on the ones that do not.

Staying small enough to answer

Growth in this trade usually means taking more bookings than you have crews for and handing the overflow to whoever is free. We would rather turn a date down. If we tell you we are busy that week, that is the actual reason — not a negotiating position.

A quote that survives the day

The oldest trick in moving is a low number on the phone and a different one once the vehicle is loaded. We price off a surveyed inventory so that the figure you agree to is the figure you pay, and any genuine change is approved by you before we carry on.

Saying the unprofitable thing

Sometimes the honest answer is that you only need labour and a vehicle, that your date is a bad one to move on, or that another firm is better placed for your route. Saying so costs us a booking and is the reason people come back.

One name on the registration

This is a proprietorship and has stayed one. There is no franchise agreement, no parent company and no third party between the business and the person whose goods are in the truck.

Kanpur first

We work across India on intercity routes, but the office is on Swaroop Nagar and the crews are from here. Local knowledge is not a marketing line in this city — it is knowing which lanes a truck cannot turn in before you send one down them.

Claiming only what we can show

You will not find a star rating, an award or a certification badge on this website, because we are not going to print one we cannot put a document behind. Our registration number and the year we started are here because they are ours to state. Ask us for anything you want to verify and we will show you the paperwork.
